Important Decisions

Is it better to let your emotions control important decisions or should you use ignore your emotions and use logic to determine important decisions?

I believe that it is always better to use logic, and ignore your emotions, to determine important decisions rather than letting your emotions run the show. Examples from Night by Elie Wiesel, The Water Gate scandal and a home invasion will support this position.

emotions make their decision to stay and not move, Elie's dad was killed, everyone in his family was split up, and the whole family had to go to concentration camps. If Elie's family had thought through the situation with logic and not let their fears hold them back they probably would have relocated and avoided the Nazi's wrath. This is a prime example of how letting your emotions make your decisions can lead to destruction and even death.

An example from history, being the reporters who uncovered the Water Gate scandal, clearly shows how logical decision making can lead to tremendous achievements. Many people, including people from the government, were putting pressure on the reporters to stop investigating the case and let it go. The reporters knew the government had power and they knew that they could be in some serious trouble.
