Richard Hickock and Perry Smith were both hanged on April 14, 1965 for their actions on the night of November 14, 1959 in murdering the four members of the Clutter family in their home in the small farming community of Holcomb, Kansas. In the United States of America the death penalty is the highest punishment that a criminal can receive and is also highly controversial on whether or not it is a fair punishment. In my opinion Hickock and Smith received a fair trial and punishment.

Dick even goes on to insist that he is “a normal” which seems to hint at some sort of mental disorder because no normal person could be a part of the murder of four people and then go on as if none of it happened.
