I feel so blessed and thankful to represent my school there and to observe the great T’ang governmental system here in China and return there to assume official position. By the time you receive this letter from me, I’m pretty sure that you are so much excited to know how am I enjoying my trip and my experience of The Hundred Schools of Thought. Of the various schools, five proved to have the most lasting significance for Chinese culture: Confucianism, Daoism, Moism, Naturalism, and Legalism.

Confucianism has influenced Chinese attitudes, life patterns, and social virtues. It also has provided the background for Chinese political theories and institution. I noticed that although it became the official ideology of the Chinese state, it has never existed as an established religion with a church and priesthood. Confucius taught that benevolence toward fellow human beings, moral behavior and sound family relationships are the essence of a harmonious and well ordered society which the Chinese called ren.
The second most important stream of Chinese thought is Daoism. Its formulation is attributed to the legendary sage Lao Zi, who introduced or predate Confucius or Zhuang Zi. The focus here is the individual in nature rather than the individual in society.
