General Speech Purpose: Inform about solar flares

Specific Speech Purpose: To inform my audience about solar flares and the recent eruptions NASA has reported and how they fear it may get even worse.

Central Idea/Thesis: There has been a peak in solar flares which has been unleashing high levels of radiation towards the earth atmosphere.

II. Solar flares are violent eruptions of gases that release ultra-violet radiation, x-rays and gammy rays. It's an enormous explosion of hydrogen and helium above the sun surface. These solar flares are caused by sun spots, which NASA proclaims as “temporary phenomena on the photosphere of the sun that appears visibly as dark spots compared to surrounding areas.”

a. If you have protective wear, you are able to see such spots with the naked eye. These solar flares happen every eleven years and it’s usually a sudden rapid intense variation in brightness.

i. Just imagine gigantic bulbs of materials held together and then suddenly thrown into the earth’s magnetosphere, damaging our space technology, aircrafts, and emitted tons of radiation around the plant.
