The struggles of an early and uneducated settlement that led to famine, starvation, cannibalism, and death of many men, women, and children. All of which this happened in high hopes of finding gold like the Spaniards had found in the South Americas.

The location they picked was not very good due to the fact that the colony was surrounded by salt water with no real fresh water supply nearby.

They were not bright because when a leader would leave the colony, the colonists began to suffer. A man by the name Christopher Newport was one of the first men to be in charge of the colony. He only led the colony for a short period of time and then began his journey back to England for more supplies for the colony and make a report to the King.
