"If your reading this now, then we are probably dead." read an excert from a letter written by Jim Stolpa before leaving for their long journey through the harsh winds and freezing cold blizzard.
After 18 hours of driving toward Pocatello, ID from Castro Valley, CA the Stolpa family had lost the road in the blizzard and getting stuck in snow, they spent three endless, cold days in the truck before deciding to head out.
The Stolpa's were heading to Idaho to attend Jim's grandmother's funeral in which they did not have enough money to fly to when a huge snow storm was heading that way was announced. Jim decided they must go on anyway because he wanted to be there for his mother. ...

would die. At first, he wanted Jennifer and the baby to stay, but Jen insisted they go. So they wrote whomever a letter letting them know where they were headed and bundled up for the long journey.

They walked 29 hours without sleep before finally reaching a cave. They climbed in for shelter and some warmth. Finally after a day or two, Jim decided that he needed to head back if they had any chance of surviving. They said their good-byes and he promised to be back by Wednesday. Jen used that as her meaning to struggle for life.

After straggling miles and miles, Jim spotted a truck. He ran for his life, yelling to the truck and jumped in before the man even had a chance to speak. "Help me! You've got to help me! My wife and baby are out there dying in a cave somewhere!" Jim pleaded as the man took him into his house and helped him warm up.

The police had been notified and finally the Stolpa's family was contacted to let them know that Jim was alive and ok. The ...
