males have some degree of language impairment. As children, they often learn to verbally communicate much later on in life than unaffected children do. They may also have difficulty learning how to read and write. While affected males usually do learn how to speak and converse normally at some point, the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development [NICHD] says the majority tend to have some degree of difficulty with language throughout their lives.
The NICHD says that, by adulthood, XXY males do begin to look more similar to males without the condition, although they are often still taller. They are also more likely than other men to have certain health problems, such as breast cancer, autoimmune disorders, vein diseases, osteoporosis, and tooth decay. These males can have normal sex lives, but they usually produce little to no sperm. In fact, between 95% and 99% of XXY males are infertile.
