Marijuana should be legal

Cannabis or Marijuana as most know it by is currently an illegal substance, but what harm does it do to us? It is less harmful than most drugs out there, take cigarettes for example, it causes cancer, emphysema, and heart disease, and is a bad habit that can cause smokers hundreds and even thousands of dollars a year. Smoking is a hard habit to break because tobacco contains nicotine which is highly addictive, but yet it is still legal. If something as harmful as cigarettes are legal then why shouldn’t marijuana, which is less harmful, be legal too?
Another example would be alcohol the people who have overused alcohol may stagger, lose their coordination, and slur their words reaction ...

serious health problems like those caused by tobacco or alcohol. Marijuana causes people to relax, it does not cause violence unlike Alcohol. Marijuana is less dangerous than alcohol, cigarettes, and even most over-the-counter medicines or prescriptions. Marijuana, in its natural form, is one of the safest substances known to man, if it is not hurting anyone than why is it illegal?
Like most Americans, people who smoke marijuana also pay taxes, love and support their families, and work hard to make a better life for their children, but they are arrested, put in jail and treated like criminals. Responsible marijuana smokers present no threat or danger to people and there is no reason to treat them like criminals. If marijuana is legal then law enforcement can focus on more serious crimes like terrorism, harder drugs, rape, and murder. More serious criminals could be caught because the government can focus on catching those higher level criminals then the small time pot dealers or ...
