As a marketing student, one of the requirements for the completion of my course is to intern at a local company. The experience according to my tutors is insightful as well as provides a clear picture of how the practical business world operates. It offers a chance for an individual to see how the theoretical frameworks that we learn in class operate in these organizations.

During the last holidays, I have had the opportunity to intern at a local tea import company and my observations of the organization are as follows:

purchase consultant who works along with Mr. XYZ in dealing with inventory and negotiation and a secretary who handles all the paper works. To a certain degree I observe that these individuals have the freedom to exploit their positions however limited they are in exploring their authority. Since the organization follows a horizontal management style and caters to the open team management therefore its corporate culture is open and highly friendly. There are no policies but there are some understood "etiquettes" so that each member of the team understands his/her duties as a team to contribute, brainstorm, chip in their expertise and complete their tasks for the benefit of the whole team. Mr. XYZ on the other hand regularly updates them with the latest sales figures, how they are performing and/ or if they require any kind of changes in their strategies.
