Martin Luther King Jr Vs Malcolm X

Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X are two protruding African American individuals in America's history. They both fought for what they stood for throughout the Civil Rights Movement, but each of these two leaders had different views on how to go about gaining freedom. In this essay I will go over the differences from each of these historical work. For Malcolm X it will be his autobiography and "Letters from Birmingham jail" from Martin Luther king.

The first difference in the two works would be the tone that both authors use. In the autobiography of Malcolm X his tone is angry. In his autobiography you can sense that Malcolm is angry and blaming everything on the white race for ...

Even though it wasn't aggressive King still wanted his work to have an urgent feeling to let the reader know that he meant business. "I have tried to stand between these two forces, saying that we need emulate neither the do-nothingism of those complacent nor the hatred and despair of the Black Nationalist" (1902-1903).

The second difference in the each of the works is the theme. In Malcolm his theme is the racism that only African Americans endure after being her for so long, and how they are not only fighting for equal rights but for their human rights. "How is the black man going to get "civil rights" before first he wins his human rights?"(1868). While Martin Luther's theme was the fight for justice. Dr. King addresses posits that justice upholds the dignity of the human spirit, while injustice works against it. "But more basically, I am in Birmingham because injustice is here" (1896)
