Species have appeared and disappeared continually throughout Earth's history, with extinctions occurring on average at slow rate .But the extinction rate is increasing these years. Scientist believe we may be facing the earth's sixth period of mass extinction.
The modern global mass extinction is a hazard of climate change and human activities. These problems are tightly tied to the increase of human population. Before the Industrial Era, human population increased slowly. During the Industrial Revolution ,human population increased rapidly. Now there are more than seven billion people on the planet. storms, and droughts. Because of the rising temperature ,if a species cannot adapt to the climate change , it becomes extinct and the biodiversity is lost. When a lot of specieses is becoming extinct ,it's called mass extinction.
Another factor that may lead to mass extinction is pollution .For example ,acid rain , which is mainly caused by pollution of cars and factories ,kills fish in lakes and rivers .When the acids get into the soil ,it kills the tree .The trees that absorb carbon dioxide decrease ,and this further worsens global warming .As forests disappear ,the organisms that live there also disappear because of destruction of natural habitat .Habitat destruction is a serious threat to biodiversity .
Human influences, including our impacts on climate change, are causing extinctions at a rate faster than the average during a mass extinction event. If we continue down our current path, we may face a sixth mass extinction event within the next few centuries. However, ...
