Many jobs in today's labor market require a mathematics or science background. A number of these are among the fastest growing occupations nationally, and they are not jobs ordinarily thought of as "technical.” Jobs that once required little background in mathematics now call for specific skills in algebra, geometry, measurement, probability and statistics. One particular field that requires the knowledge of math is in statistics. Math is used to be a statistician.
