In the late 18th century, new experiments with democratic ideas and republican forms of government, as well as other new religious and cultural ideas, challenged traditional imperial systems across North America. The United States had been created based on the belief that all men are created equal and that the government cannot be a monarchy or tyranny and still enforce that judgment. Whyandotes and the Shawnees were made to settle all conflicts between the two in 1795. Initially Native Americans were impacted by westward expansion as Whites began to force Native Americans to sign treaties to settlers.
