Music and Emotion

Everybody listens to music, and I am sure that every single person loves music also. Many people choose to listen to music to make their day better, many choose to listen to music to get relaxed, some choose a type of song that matches with their mood, and then there are the ones that listen to a certain song that brings back a certain memory.

Music has the strong ability to affect one's emotions. For example, according to The Economist Newspaper, "Music with a rapid tempo, and written in a major key, correlated [with] the induction of happiness. A slow tempo and a minor key induced sadness, and a rapid tempo combined with dissonance induced fear." So, this basically is saying that music with a constant tempo or with a constant pleasant beat makes one's emotion happy; slower music or music that sounds depressing or sad makes one sad, and the fast paced scream-o or rock out type of music is scary and unpleasant which causes fear.
