My Friend T.W.

T.W. Gerron and I met in the fifth grade when I first came to Cooper High School. We weren’t in the same home room, but we were friends from the get go. I met him on the soccer field my first morning. I will never forget it because he outran me to score the winning goal. When the bell rang, thus ending the game, he caught up to me and said, “I thought you might catch me there for a second, but just for a second.” I liked him from the start. We walked into the building together and talked about where I was from and made whatever kind of small talk fifth graders make. The next time I saw him was recess, once again on the soccer field. are you sure your not Irish? Nevertheless, he has always been and still is one of the most intelligent people I have ever met. This is the type of kid who made A’s in every class and couldn’t wait to get home and do his homework. (The one area we differ in.)
