My Journey


“Wake up! Wake up!” The shrieking commands of my now irate mother abruptly awake me. As I strain to open my eyes, I am pierced by the fiery hot coals of the sun’s rays. I roll out of bed, only to hear more commands barked out by my mother. “Hurry up, you’re going to be late, you don’t want to be late on your first day of school.” I quickly glance at my alarm clock, and frantically rush to put on my new clothes. “I’m not going to make it!” I keep telling myself, “I’m not going to make it.”
With my bag in hand, and supplies falling everywhere I meet my mom at the base of the stairs. She hands me a poptart, and wishes me luck. Before I head out, I check my bag one last time to make sure that ...

look around the room, and notice the differences from previous classrooms to this one. I keep thinking that I am finally here, no longer in junior high, but in highschool. It was a completely different territory, where I was a lowly sophomore, rather then the bigshot head of the class ninth grader. I notice that other students are looking around the room, and I wonder if they’re thinking the same things that I am? Throughout the rest of the day, I walk around in awe; not only of the other people, but of the newfound scenery as well. When lunchtime rolls around, I search my pockets for the lunch money my mother had given me. I stand in line, admiring the efficiency of which the cafeteria ladies complete their work. They give me my lunch, and I quickly find the table where my friends are located.
The rest of my day goes on as scheduled with nothing out of the ordinary occurring. When the last bell sounds for us to go home, I gather my belongings and begin my trip towards home. As I ...
