NEWS COMMUNICATION

Everyday across America, people tune into their favorite news channels. Within the news channels there are many to choose from. Each city usually has between three to six various local networks while other smaller cities may only have one or two. With the addition of cable television and with satellite television the choices that the public audience has are much more interesting.

cable news channels such as CNN and CNN headline news, we may indeed see local issues but they usually have ramifications on the National level. For instance, when the Healthcare Medicare fraud case first came to light, it first appeared on the local level because there were several parties that were arrested and charged in the raids right here in Houston. One the National cable news focused on the ring that was implicated around the nation and those States that the stings affected.

In other instance, when CNN and Fox News wrongfully reported that President Obama's healthcare law had been struck down, the two networks address their mistakes differently-- specifically, CNN has taken accountability for the mistake while Fox News was in denial. CNN issued a statement acknowledged its error. Fox News also issued a statement the next day I remembered, but it was without apology or acknowledgment of the error.
