On War by Karl von Clausewitz

Karl von Clausewitz was a Prussian soldier who became recognized as the great military theorist ad writer about the nature of war in the socio-political 'landscape' of the society. In On War, which he has written in 1833, Clausewitz talks about his experiences, especially his defeat, in the war, where he discusses the causes, effects, possible solutions to conflicts that may arise in a changing political and social environment.

and nations concerning the exercise and application of political power to the society. It is evident that the framework that Clausewitz uses for his argument can be patterned after Napoleon Bonaparte's history of conquering Europe, particularly France. Through a series of wars and conquests, Napoleon was able to eventually establish peace and order, and be able to formulate a form of civil law, called the Napoleon Code. Napoleon's example shows how wars are essential phases that societies have to go through in order to establish order and peace. Indeed, as Clausewitz posited in his discourse, War is a process that gives birth to an orderly nation, through a set of laws and policies that people need to follow: "If we reflect on the nature of real War... it becomes certain and palpable to us that the superior standpoint for the conduct of the War, from which its leading lines must proceed, can be no other than that of policy."
