Today I am going to be talking about organ donation. What is organ donation? Organ donation takes healthy organs and tissues from a recently deceased person and transplanting them into another. Experts say that one donor is capable of saving up to 50 people (medlineplus.gov). Is organ donation important? Well of course it is. Some people may disagree with that but for me I totally support donation. Organ donation has a humongous effect on people's lives, it could help many desperate people with deadly illnesses. It gives hope to people that are giving up so easily.

I also must mention that 20 people die each day waiting for a transplant. Not only but also almost every 10 minutes another person is added to the waiting list. They may have to wait for up to 5 years to get a transplant. That shows that people don't know how extremely important it is to become a donor.
Although some times when the organs are transplanted into someone's body there is a slight chance that the body would reject the organ. Why? As soon as the organ is transplanted into the body the immune system recognizes that the organ or tissues are not from that person's body and that they are "foreign" and attacks them. But there is a bigger chance for the body to accept the transplanted organ or tissue. The doctors check if they are functioning properly and the immune system is accepting them.
