How can I possibly separate myself from the billions of people in this world and the millions applying for colleges? Should I write about my struggles? Should I write about how my life is hard when in reality there are people who have it worse? knew. Nonetheless, I went on with my life and went back to this new apartment that I was supposed to call home. As I opened the door I felt a tension that was so thick that you would be able to slice through it with a butter knife. I put down my things and began to look around for my mom. She was sitting with my sister at the dining room table, both with blank stares that made it seem like they were hypnotized. They didn’t even notice that I walked in. I locked myself in my room and forced myself to take a nap. I awoke to my mother crying on the phone with my older brother on the line. I saw that there was something wrong with her, but I was reluctant to ask if she was okay. At the time I didn’t care what was happening around me, all I wanted was to be left alone.
My brother asked for me on the phone but I didn’t want anything to do with him or anyone else. My mother insisted so I finally spoke with him. He asked me “what’s your problem?” but I didn’t want to tell him the truth. ...
