How would you develop a police organization that adequately reflects the community it polices?

In creating a police organization many factors come into play. For a police organization to function properly, it should adequately reflect the community it polices. A police organization should be set to serve strictly and efficiently. The organization would have to focus their efforts in the correct places if they were to expect efficiency. To do this, the organization also has to take great care it choosing the right people for the job. There should be standards set so admission can be fair but equal.

Officers should be well educated of their surrounding and prepared both mentally and physically for what they can encounter. A poorly educated and unprepared officer cannot perform safely and fairly with citizens. They should not be stressed because this can also lead to problems. We would also assume that a police chief would not send out his officers unarmed to an unsafe and violent section of the community. Officers should be well equipped to even stand a chance in those rougher neighborhoods.
Another thing to analyze when creating a police organization is the size of the community it will be in charge of giving service to. Clearly, a larger area requires more strategic planning and will require more personnel. If not planned out, a large area could mean emergencies being responded to too late and inefficiently.
