The antagonist of the story is well to me i believe that the antagonist is a mixture of things and her environment. I believe that the antagonist is the environment because based on the events that went on in her life if the environment had changed to maybe a smaller better part of the U.S. i belief the outcome would have been much different in ways such as her having a baby , her mother being on drugs and so on. But some people may argue that her mother is the antagonist in that case Mary( No last name given) is roughly in her mid 40’s.
