Headlights, airbags, and wheels are commonly stolen car items in the United States and foreign countries as well. According to The Federal Bureau of Investigation in the Uniform Crime Reports, property crimes were on a rise on their list from the years 1960 through 2004. In 2005 property crime slowly began to decrease in numbers as far as the United States. Property crimes normally consisted of burglary, motor vehicle theft, larceny/theft, and arson. I have yet to hear about any of them having their headlights or airbags stolen. Normally when I hear about headlights, they are vandalized and need to be replaced, due to young children having too much free time to find trouble, due to not having anything better to do. I even knew individuals who would steal their own coworkers’ wheels, leaving their vehicles on blocks or large bricks, leaving them stranded and these actions were being committed by the ones we worked hand to hand with, having no real reasons for doing such a thing.

I think we can better protect the listed items, such as headlights, airbags, stereo systems, and wheels, by adding a theft mechanism or tracking device, so that the police will be able to locate the items, when it has been removed from the registered vehicle and have all components of the vehicle are registered to it somehow. They have already brought forth wheel locks for the wheels, requiring a specific key in order to have a chance at removing the ...
