Mr. James, as organizer of the one of the biggest boat shows in Florida. He wanted to gather captains, yacht suppliers, crew members, etc. This he wanted to do so that he would be able to have different types of exhibitors come to the show and meet everyone's expectations. He also wanted to attract people to come to the show so that it could be a huge success.

When the speech began Mr. James clearly possessed great speaking capabilities. He spoke about the importance of the Marine Industry in South Florida. The Marine business is economically very important in this area. He demostrated his strengths and flaws, ...

because I feel Mr. James covered all the bases. The strengths are inherent and will be evident in during the show.

Consequently, I also found many problems with the presentation. He approached the podium with little excitement. The audience's first reaction is to mimic his enthusiasm through their observation of his attitude; Mr. James lost their attention before the speech even started. He also failed to retain strong eye contact, instead reading from his notes about half of the time. He also appeared uncomfortable by shifting my weight, which is a sign of lack of confidence. Poor self-confidence tends to present a loss of credibility to the audience. The nonverbal communication in general was poor, and few hand gestures were used. I think these weaknesses were forgotten as the presentation continued and he began gaining confidence and winning over the crowd.
