RU-486 is an abortion pill. This pill is a steroid hormone similar to the natural hormone progesterone. It is an antiprogestrone drug that blocks receptors of progesterone, a key hormone in order to start and maintain a human pregnancy.
RU-486 is made up of Mifeprisone (a.k.a. RU-486) and also taken with this, is Prostaglandin’s to induce uterine contractions. It acts just like Methrexate and Misoprostal when these two are combined also induce a contraction. Methrexate is used to combat cancer and rheumatoid arthritis. The creator of RU-486 is Dr. Etienne-Emile Baulieu. He made this for the French pharmaceutical company named Rossel-Uclaf. RU-486 is the first of a generation of birth control drugs called “antiprogestins” considered to be a breakthrough in birth control drugs.

RU-486 works by binding to progestorone receptors in the women’s uterus and blocking the action of progestorone. Without progestorone the lining of a woman’s uterus breaks down and sheds, so that bleeding will occur. The drug opens the cervix and leads to contraction that helps to dislodge and expel the embryo.

RU-486 is a synthetic steroid method that destroys the hormone necessary to sustain life in the uterus. The mother is given the drug twice. She becomes violently ill and then usually result is the delivery of a dead baby.
