In an alternative opinion, Ayres and Vars argued that "individuals should have the option to waive their Second Amendment rights to keep and bear arms by adding their names to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System" (p. 921). In such a move, the citizens will be positioned in a better place to decide what they want with gun control.
