The main similarity between the1996 version of Romeo and Juliet and the original play is that most things stayed the same. For example, the dialect and characters all the stayed the same. The dialect was almost word for word, but some lines had to be edited for production purposes. The dialect was still as close as it can get to original play. The dialect in 1996 version still kept its poetic sense of touch so the readers can know how the original play was spoken. The characters remained the same and all of them were there.
