hope, thou wilt be satisfied.” (#16) This misinterpretation causes Juliet’s mother to think that murdering Romeo will satisfy Juliet, which obviously is not the case since she is deeply in love with Romeo. All of these misinterpretations cause very large problems and ultimately the death of these two “unfortunate lovers.” This leads into how misinterpretations can cause false thoughts to arise and cause disaster.
Dramatic irony also adds foreshadowing to the play since some characters and the audience knows things that other characters do not. Through this, Shakespeare adds such an effect to the play leaving the audience more involved with a false sense of suspense in which they know the plot of the play but still hope for another thing. In this way the audience is kept intrigued by the known plot with few large sudden plot twists.
