Roswell, a small town in New Mexico, is commonly referred to as "The UFO capital of the world!" Many people today believe that extra-terrestrials were recovered here from an unexpected crash landing of some sort. Thought to be a cover up by the military, Roswell is one of history's biggest sought after stories. There are many eyewitnesses who testify in favor of aliens, but also many counter statements to the eyewitness's testimonies. Has Roswell, NM been a cover-up by the government or is the world so "space crazy" that we actually believe in people from a different planet?

of a UFO, but shortly that statement was withdrawn and the description of a downed weather balloon became the argument. Maj. Marcel told the world that debris he and other soldiers had recovered at a remote ranch near Roswell in July 1947 had been the remains of a flying saucer.
The first news story released by the Roswell Army Air Field in 1947 said the same thing. But the military almost immediately amended that report, saying the wreckage actually came from a weather balloon. According to Maj. Marcel, the weather balloon story was a cover-up. Writers who investigated the event say the weather balloon was substituted for real debris, to throw reporters off track (Haddrill, 39A).
More discrepancies include the false identity of Major Milton Knight. He apparently was assigned to investigate UFOs but when a good friend of his, Mr. Haut, quoted him in an interview, the Air force claims that Major Knight never existed.
