A STD is any of various diseases or infections that are transmitted by direct sexual contact or close contact with another person who has the infection.

The first case of an STD that was recorded,was in the year 1492 which was Syphilis. It has often been called "the great imitator" because so many of the signs and symptoms are indistinguishable from those of other diseases.
