The rights to same-sex marriages have become a controversial discussion topic in the world over the last couple decades. Many individuals oppose same sex marriages on the bases that same sex marriage is against tradition, religious grounds and parenting concerns. Different groups have different attitudes towards the idea of same-sex marriage, for example Caucasians are more accepting of it where as African Americans are less likely to encourage same sex marriage. 17 percent of gay partnerships ended in divorce compared with 46 percent of the straight relationships. Although heterosexual marriages are much more likely to end in divorce, the fact that both marriages are capable of the same things gives us evidence that they should be treated and compared the same. Another similarity between heterosexual and homosexual couples is the idea of children. Obviously studies clearly show that heterosexual marriages are much more likely to have children, then homosexual couples, however the fact of the matter is that both types of couples do have children. In both cases divorce has major effects on children of the divorced couples.
