classes are affected,but in the larger cities schizophrenia is three to four times more common in the lower classes,than in the middle and upper classes.Doctors say this difference is due in part to the downward social status of people developing the disease."Schizo" occurs equally as often in men and women,however it occurs at an earlier age for men.Schizophrenia usually takes place in the late teen or early adult years,but can also occur in later years.

Varieties

There are differnt forms of the disease schizophrenia.It's subtypes include paranoid schizophrenia,the most serious in which delusions dominate,catatonic schizophrenia,charactertized by silent immobility for weeks or months,which usually is followed by a frenzy of agitation,and hebephrenic schizophrenia,illustrated by intellectual disorganization,chaotic language,illness and absurd ideas that often concern deterioration of the patients body.A small percentage of ...
