My essay will be on the racism and slavery in America. I will talk about how slavery began, the treatment of the slaves, the tensions between the colonies and the people, and what lead to the Civil War.

The first colonies to arrive in North America had some problems with the Natives. During a few battles between the Natives and Colonists, some of the Natives captured a few white men and used them as slaves which gave the colonists the idea of slavery. The first African slaves arrived in North America as part of the San Miguel de Gualdape colony somewhere around the Winyah Bay area of South Carolina in 1526.
