Social norms are cultural products which represent individuals’ basic knowledge of what others do and think that they should do. They are also known as unwritten rules regarding how to act in specific situations. The reason why they are important in a society is because they provide guidelines on how to act in different situations. As well as, they help to create order in society by allowing humans to understand typical behaviors in their culture. or even during passing period I would go up to a random person and give them a high five but instead of putting my hand down and continuing with a conversation I just left my hand up and was just silent. While I was breaking this norm my thoughts were that people are probably thinking that I am insane or just weird. Then for the reactions that I had recorded of the others that I broke this norm were that most people were just awakened or confused. Some people would just give me another high five, while others just kept staring at me with an uncomfortable look, or they would take my hand and put it down. The last reaction was that they would just give me a confused look and just walk away.
