This case study was conducted by Lee S. Sitkowski in June of 2008. She created and conducted the experiment to see whether or not athletic participation had an effect on the GPA of sophomore and junior students at a target school. In addition, Lee's experiment directly questioned whether participation in a specific sport had any impact on the results. Sitkowski contacted a high school in southern Pennsylvania to carry out the study. opposite. In-season grades differed little from out of season, while the major change came within the different sports that they participated in. The study showed that different sports affected the female individuals differently. While the case study was well-put together, there were limitations. Future studies could investigate whether the effects found in this study were stable over time or whether they varied from one year to the next. Additionally, a broader base of schools could be used for the analysis in order to increase the applicability of the study overall. The response to the second research question could be investigated more thoroughly with respect to various sports. Sitkowski acknowledged the limitations of the study in his conclusion.
