Emily is obsessed with halting the unwavering passage of time, and it is her obsession that causes her to be unable to accept death. People may resort to desperate measures to prevent being alone in life and to prevent being away from the ones they love.

Emily's grew up around her father. Her life was hard. Emily's father was a very strict man. Her father was the dictator in their relationship. Emily's white garment represents how pure and innocent she was. Her father robbed her from a normal childhood and life by shielding her from the men in her life and the world around her.
