One of the famous monsters of our time that has terrorized audiences in many movies is Count Dracula. The character was created by author Bram Stoker in the novel titled Dracula. In the novel, Dracula of course is the antagonist. The protagonist is a young man from England, Jonathan Harker, who is sent to Transylvania to finalize the transfer of real estate in England to Count Dracula. Once Jonathan learns about what is going on, he and his five friends try to bring an end to Dracula. The novel is sort of a chase novel where the so-called "good guys" are trying to kill the "bad guy." Ironically, the ship lands in England where Harker's fiancée Mina lives. The Count then attacks Mina's friend Lucy while she is sleepwalking, and she eventually dies. Jonathan finally returns to England and marries Mina. Meanwhile Arhtur Holmwood, Lucy's husband, Dr. John Seward and Quincy Morris, both of whom proposed to Lucy but were rejected, and Dr. Van Helsing, learn the truth about the Count. The six of them first perform a service on Lucy who has become a vampire herself. They stab a wooden stake through her heart, cut off her head and then fill it with garlic. Later, the entire gang goes after the count and then the chase begins.
The most interesting character in the novel is Count Dracula. He has no major motive except that he needs to drink human blood in order to survive.
