Teletubbies!


Teaching children how to make sense of our almost insane world is not something I say I can do, but saying that 4 technological babies can. Is going to take a certain amount of explaining. My reaction to this children’s phenomenon is that the Teletubbies are something out of a bad acid trip, but children’s undeveloped minds are far from the sensible minds of mature people. This main reason is why I can’t say that the Telietubbies are a bad influence on children. Most of the people in my generation were raised watching a giant bird and a green monster that lived in trash can, and still were the ones trying to say that the teletubbies are freaks.

As far as the characters go they’re strange to but promote self-esteem and individuality. Showing that people are different and will be different and can live amongst each other peacefully. I also think that the rumor of the one who caries a bag as being an attempt to show that homosexuals are ok is so absolutely absurd that its stranger then the teletubies themselves. The age group that this show reaches barley has grasp on the idea of male and female. Also I don’t know many homosexuals but I’ve never met or seen one that carried a pocket book.
I will say that one bad side to the Telietubbies is that no grown ups are on the show and there is no interaction with adults. I view this as a bit of a hindrance that when children should be learning mostly from their parent or guardian. Are learning baby talk and simple movements there should be equilibrium of the adult world and children world ...
