The Black Plague

The Black Plague is a type of bubonic plague that traveled throughout Europe and the Mediterranean Sea, killing millions. The Black Plague (or Black Death) is a bacterial infection that causes swelling on numerous parts of the body. It causes odd black sores in which the human flesh is eaten away. If you are infected with this, you have five days to be treated before you die. This is carried mainly through a type of flea that was found on Black Rats. During the five years that the Black Plague was at its peak, it is estimated that over 25 million people were killed in Europe alone.

The bigger towns and cities were ravished and left with nothing. The mountainous areas, it would seem, was safe for the effects of the Black Plague. The people that survived the plague had a lot of work ahead of them. They were in charge of rebuilding the areas and repopulating.

The doctors that tried to combat the plague were said to try a number of things. They believed that the body lacked fluids, or humors, and assumed that it was God's call for repentance.
