The Crucible

The Crucible is a 1953 play by Arthur Miller. The play is a dramatization of the Salem witchcraft trials that took place in the Province of Massachusetts Bay during 1692 and 1693. Mary Warren’s character is caught between both sides of the Salem Witchcraft trials. On one side of the trial is John Proctor a down-to-earth up-front farmer for whom Mary Warren works for. The other side of the trial is Abigail Williams who is a devious girl who is convincing the girls to act as she does. In the play Mary Warren is forced to choose between what is right and wrong and what she can do to stay alive.
