Why did such an event of this magnitude happen, and what were the events that made it so successful? The French Revolution broke out partly because of the dire economic situation in France, not only that France was being pounded by a brutal winter. Estates General, but it was only called very really, the king had absolute power and control over France. When the King wanted something he received it, and basically the third estate was supposed to do what the King told them to do. Just like the Estates Generals if the king wanted something done in the meeting, it was then done, period. The French people were becoming outraged and under pressure from the members of the Third Estate, the King agreed to convert the Estates General into a National Assembly. As of this simple action done by the king, the third estates are on their way to power. In a particular meeting the third estates attempted to invoke a new constitution for France, However, Louie tried to organize a coup d’état to dismiss the Estates general, which caused a riot in Paris, and the storming of the Bastille.
