What is cloning and a clone? The dictionary says cloning is the technique of producing a genetically identical duplicate of an organism. A clone is all descendants derived asexually (having no sex or sexual organs; sexless) from a single individual, as by cuttings, bulbs, by fission , by mitosis , or by parthenogenesis reproduction. In general human cloning is the "identical twin of another person" (Vere 1). Science fiction movies, filmmakers, and science fiction authors are still far ahead of the scientists in the race between fantasy and reality. Two astonishing feats have been achieved in the scientific world. One is the cloning of a sheep named Dolly, and the other is the development of headless frog embryos. Dolly was cloned in Edinburgh, Scotland, at the Roslin Institute in July 1996. The headless frog embryos were manufactured in London, England, in October 1997 (this didn't get the same amount of press attention as Dolly). Not only were the time frames different between the cloned sheep and the headless frogs, but the procedures had very little in common and scientists used different methods.
