July, blistering 95 degree heat and every golfer on the team was struggling including me. The first three days I was really worried that I wouldn't make the team, until coach said "Ross, I know you can play better than this. You also know I would never cut one of my teams vocal leaders." The pep talk he gave me took the pressure off that was weighing down on my shoulders so the next two days of tryouts I went out and shot 72 and 74. He came up to me after the last day of tryouts and said these words I will never forget: "Ross you've always been like a son to me and I want you to know that." To hear someone that means that much to you say something like that really makes you feel great.
Geldhof has meant so much to me throughout my life and the fact that he has been there for me through thick and thin really has showed what kind of man he was. His father was a man who was always at our team functions and always there to watch us play in tournaments. We called him Papaw because he was like a grandpa to all of us.
