his father sends her for a doctor and locksmith. With so much going on and anxious to prove he can get to work fast enough to save his job Gregor tries his hardest to get to the door. He was so focused on opening the door and getting to work that he hadn’t realized what kind of panic his current state might ensue. When he finally opened the door both his parents burst into tears and the chief clerk ran off. His father had managed to fend Gregor back in his room as he tried to chase after the clerk and show how he can work when obviously he could not.

In Part two we can begin to see his change starting to take effect on him mentally. When his sister put out his favorite drink, Gregor turned away without thinking of it almost against his own will.
