The problems of the world could be solved by Don Quixote. Although, Cervantes wrote Don Quixote in 1605, modern man in 1998 could learn, should learn from the main character. "In essence, Don Quixote shows us that the reality of existence consists in receiving all the impact of experience, which, transformed the medium of a special awareness, is synthesized as part of the character" (Riley 5). In his deranged state, Don Quixote sets himself the task of defending orphans, protecting maidens and widows, befriending the helpless, serving the causes of truth and beauty, and reestablishing justice. His adventures and journey's are often inappropriate to the situation; for example, he attacks a windmill, thinking of a giant, and a flock of sheep as an army. His illusions never let him think realistically where as Sancho Panza is just the opposite. The philosophical perception of the novel lies in the suggested balance of their contrasting views.
Don Quixote believed his calling was to live a life of knighthood. Despite his insanity this way of moral life could help man in today's world.

Quixote always fought for the well-being of others. For instance, Don Quixote came about a young boy being beaten by a man because the boy wanted his money that he had earned. "And I will show you what a coward you are. In discovering this he sees it as his chance to fulfill his duties as a knight (Mack 2556-2557). He reasoned with the man to stop beating the boy and to give him what is rightfully his. People go through their everyday lives seeing others beaten and mugged but yet they do nothing but turn their cheek. Less people would try to do these things if there was a severe punishment rather than a slap on the hand.
