Once incorporated together in any firm, these requirements can ensure that the firm or business unit has higher than average profits for the firm in its market and this implies that it has a competitive advantage (Griffin & Pustay, 1996). To generate a competitive advantage to the firm, human resources need to be integrated with the appropriate strategy.
Resources are said to be inimitable if they can only be employed by a certain company and can not be easily imitated by another firm or there is no similar substitution by similar resources employed by another firm (wright &McMahan 1992). Through this, the firm can take advantage to gain competitiveness which may not be enjoyed or pursued by other companies.
