the Scranton yards of the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad or DL&W. This museum is huge. Its design astonished me. It had a working turntable and a roundhouse that were made as replicas of the ones used by DL&W. A turntable is a device that helps turn the locomotives and a roundhouse is a building where the locomotives are serviced. As stated on the national parks website "the replications of the roundhouse were constructed out of the remnants of a 1932 structure."
What really caught my eye that day was a video that we were shown. In this video shown in the theater at Steamtown showed a day in a life of a man and his career with the railroad. The film was called Steel and Steam. It amazed me to see how much the railroad has changed during the 20[th] century. You can see that when you enter the museum.
