It has been about five years ago today since my father has been diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease, or in other words kidney failure. The pain and sacrifice he has to go through five times a week during dialysis treatments just to get back in a normal state of living brings me down every time I think about it. It has come near the end to where his treatments no longer will benefit his one last functional kidney anymore. There is one kidney match that is available to transplant into his body. It turns out it is my kidney.

obstacles that have come in the way of my goals. My little sister was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes September 10[th], 2010. At that moment, I had to stop and slow down and realize the importance of having my family. I spent countless hours learning how to become familiar with the disease my little five-year-old sister had to live with the rest of her life.
I was able to get back on track with school and finish strong that year but before it ended, I got hit with some more bad news about one of my family members. This time, one of my father's kidneys failed and now he needed to be treated every week, three to five times, at a dialysis center to filter out the toxins in his blood and replace that with clean blood. Emotionally I was in a terrible state of mind. I felt like in this point in my life I got hit my two oncoming trains back to back. The ones I love the most are sick and hurting.
