Jonathan Swift and Alexander Pope were both 18th Century poets who used satire to comment on the situation of the people and society. Pope's poem ""The Rape of the Lock"" and Swift's "The Progress of Beauty" Discuss the frivolous attitude of the women of the society in different ways. Greater Europe, as far back as 18,000 BC, the new, crescent moon indicated the beginning of the perpetual renewal of life, and thus hope.
