Themes And Contradictions In The Chronicle Of A Death Foretold

The Chronicle of a Death Foretold was written as an
investigation. The author, Gabriel Garcia Marquez starts off with the
death of a character and from there he starts jumping the chronological
order into different time scenes. This gives him the ability to present
different interpretations of the facts from his characters. With these
interviews, the reader begins to get a better understanding of the society
these people are living in, along with their cultural values, ideals and
beliefs. The author goes into several themes such as society and how it is
organized, truth and what each person believes it to be, honor and the
extremes one would go to in order to maintain it, and fate, what ...

believed fate got him there. Santiago Nazar died with dignity because when
he falls on the ground after he was stabbed he got up to wipe off the dirt

and that he believed this was his fate. This event also determined the rest
